An exciting new site for a cool destination
Mt Buller is one of Australia's most popular ski spots, looking to refresh their website to remove the need for a second mobile site and update it to be responsive.
The winter deadline for this site was fast approaching when I was asked to design a new site for Mt Buller, and the mandate was clear - they needed a site that was easy to navigate for regulars and first-timers to find what they were after - be it information about getting to the mountain safely in the snow, to finding accommodation, and things to do when they weren't on the snow.
Since there was a massive amount of content on the site, the first thing to do was to organise the sections into easily digestible chunks. The interface was then designed around people being able to find what they were after quickly from the homepage, so each top-level section is represented for people scanning the page.
From there all of the main templates were identified, and wireframe prototypes were made up to make sure it was easily navigatable and would fold down effectively on all responsive devices.
After the UX foundation was laid, all template screens were designed in all sizes to ensure that the developers knew exactly what they were working with, with no surprises. This led to a very efficient project which was turned around with time to spare before the first flakes started falling.
